All we have is from God, and when we simply return His gifts in an attitude of gratitude, we are blessed! If you've been blessed, and are seeking to pass it on to others, consider giving to the work of the Kingdom here at First Pres!

SEVEN NON-NEGOTIABLES OF CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP

God Owns Everything: We are stewards of everything God has placed in our trust, but not owners.

God's work must be supported by God's people:
In the plan of God, believers are to support the work of God.

God holds every person accountable:
"...it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy." I Corinthians 4:2

God's will is that we give wisely and generously:
God is delighted when we give out of a willing and joyful heart. He also desires that we give wisely, investing his resources and not squandering them.

God desires equal commitment, not equal contribution: To give sacrificially one must give out of need, not out of abundance.

True sacrifice always results in personal cost to the giver.
God holds more responsible those to whom more is given: As individuals to whom God has given greater position and influence, it is imperative to lead by example as generous, sacrificial givers.

God blesses the giver in proportionate measure: God does not need anything; yet, mysteriously. He wants us to grow in grace by giving to Him and He blesses us.

What is electronic giving?

Electronic giving is a direct payment program whereby your contribution is debited automatically from your checking or savings account.

What are the advantages of electronic giving?

It makes it easy to fulfill stewardship commitments, even when you can’t attend church. You never have to bring cash or checks to church. Giving electronically also helps the church save money and improve its budget!

How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?

Once you complete and sign an authorization form and return it to us, the contribution amount you specify will automatically be transferred from your bank account to the church’s bank account.

When will my contribution be deducted from my account?

Your electronic contribution will be debited on the date you specify on the authorization form.

Stewardship FAQ's print email

Frequently Asked Questions in regards to giving programs at First Presbyterian Church

Q:  Why are you doing the commitment cards via email?
A:  As you know postage can become quite expensive when mass mailing to the entire congregation.  Being that we have hundreds of individual church members email, we felt it was appropriate to embrace technology and to be wise stewards of financial resources.

Q:  Why do I have to print out my own commitment card?
A:  Envelopes and multiple pieces of paper are not only a financial burden, but also introduce more garbage for our city.  Therefore we felt being stewards of God’s earth was appropriate.

Q:  What it a Commitment Card?
A:  A commitment card helps the leadership of our church make decisions, based on received commitments from people within our church.

Q:  What if I don’t turn in a Commitment Card?
A:  We pray that everyone in our congregation will turn one in.  But if you decide not to, that is your decision.  A commitment card is more of a covenant between you and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Q:  What if I cannot fulfill my Commitment due to a life changing event?
A:  If what you are really wondering is “Will the church come after me?” then the answer is No.  We believe that this is a decision between you and God.  For church planning purposes, your financial commitment will be entered into a database and you will receive statements of giving based on what you committed to give.  If you need to change the amount you can give, then please let our Accounting Administrator know.

Q:  Who will see what I have committed to give to the church?
A:  Only our Accounting Administrator will see what you have committed to give.

Q: What is EFT?
A:  Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or sometimes referred as ACH (Automated Clearing House) is a program that is run through the Federal Reserve banking system.  The systems facilitates money transfers within our US banking system.
Q: Is EFT secure?
A:  Yes.  Our chosen third party vendor is a PCI Level 1 Compliant service provider,  security and confidentiality is their specialty.  That is why we chose them.
Q:  Why should I use EFT?
A:  Convenience and security for you.  However you decide to schedule your EFT payments to the church is up to you.  No more having to remember your checkbook for church.
Q: Does EFT cost more?
A:  EFT does not cost you.

Year End Statements and Stock Donations print email

Wondering why your year end statement isn't showing the value of your stock? The IRS says that a church is not an appraiser and should not provide donors with a dollar value for donated stock. Instead, we are to provide a receipt that acknowledges the date of gift, the donor's name, the name of the stock, and the number of shares given. Please contact your Tax Professional concerning any IRS forms (i.e. Form 8283, etc.), questions and appraisals that are needed.

2009 Year End Contribution Statements will be mailed no later than January 22rd, 2010. We will not be emailing the Year End Statements.
