  • Children's Center in the Brighton Standard Blade

If you didn’t see yet – the Presbyterian Children’s Center was featured in an article in the Brighton Standard Blade on Wednesday August 24th on page 10. This article covered how they were preparing the kids for the first day of school. Please grab last week’s local paper and check it out! And then when your done with the paper before you toss it, please bring it to church and drop it by the church office or the Children’s Center office, as we are gathering extra copies to distribute to the families mentioned and pictured.

  • Notes from the Presbyterian Children’s Center

    By:  Melissa Jewell

During the month of March, the Presbyterian Children's Center collected spare change for Pennies for Peace, an organization that builds and operates schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We're excited to report that we collected $122 in pennies, nickels, dimes, and a few dollar bills to send to Pennies for Peace.

  • Notes from the Presbyterian Children’s Center

The Presbyterian Children's Center is looking forward to going through the Qualistar rating process during the month of April.  Qualistar is dedicated to advancing the school readiness of children by measuring and improving quality in early childhood programs.  They will be evaluating our program on five different components including: learning environment, family partnerships, training and education, ratios and group size, and accreditation.  Each of our 6 early childhood classrooms will be observed by a rating specialist for a minimum of three hours.  After our rating, we'll be given a comprehensive quality performance profile.  This profile will describe our classrooms' strengths as well as suggest areas of improvement.  In addition, after our Qualistar rating, each classroom will receive money from our Adams' County Early Childhood Partnership grant in order to make some of these recommended quality improvements.

Please keep the Children's Center in your thoughts and prayers during this exciting but stressful time.

We would love to have you come and visit the PCC sometime.  Come see how alive the church is during the week!  For the safety of our children, please enter through the PCC office door (on the east side of the church), check in at the main office, and we'd love to give you a tour

  • Presbyterian Children's Center Update

    by: Melissa Jewell

I believe one of the most important things we can teach the children at the Presbyterian Children's Center is the fundamental Christian values that are good life lessons as well.  We are constantly encouraging our children to:

    • be kind (Love your neighbor as yourself.  Mark 12:31)
    • not throw temper tantrums (The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love.  Numbers 14:18)
    • say I'm sorry (Forgive, and you will be forgiven.  Luke 6:37)
    • bless others (It is more blessed to give than receive.  Acts 20:35)

This last one is especially important to me and the PCC children have participated in several community service projects this year.

At Christmastime, the children collected toys and small trinkets for Operation Christmas Child.  The PCC  created and sent over 80 gift-filled shoeboxes to kids all around the world. Currently, our students are collecting loose change for Pennies for Peace.  Pennies for Peace is an organization that helps build and fund schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Did you know 1 penny will buy a pencil for a student and 2-3 dollars pays for a teacher's daily salary? In addition, we are collecting used children's clothes from our parents.  Any clothes we can't use in the classrooms, we are going to donate to the church's Zimbabwe Partnership.

We would love to have you come and visit the PCC sometime.  Come see how alive the church is during the week!  For the safety of our children, please enter through the PCC office door (on the east side of the church), check in at the main office, and we'd love to give you a tour.
