Ministry of Care

Ministry of Care  (MOC) began in 1983 when Mary Pennock, better known as Penny, a dedicated church member with a vision of showing God's love to those in need, initiated a program offering counseling opportunities within the church for church members.  Penny saw the importance of having counseling services available for those who needed more than the minister could provide in his pastoral care role.  Later Penny and the MOC board expanded services to community members in addition to church members.  Almost twenty-five years later the program has evolved from having one psychotherapist working out of an office in the church, to a MOC building separate from the church with a full time director and clinician, a staff therapist, three contract therapists, a bilingual psychotherapist, a part time receptionist and student interns.  To honor Penny, the MOC board changed the name from Hilltop Counseling to Pennock Center for Counseling in 2003.

Funding for this program has always been provided by Penny Pennock.  Prior to her death in December 2001, Penny set up a generous endowment fund to ensure this meaningful program would continue after her death.  We are thankful for her inspired vision to help so many.  The MOC board does welcome grants, donations and other endowments to expand this important ministry.
