Deacons
Board Meeting
October
11, 2004
Deacons Present:
Craig LeVere, Gladys Eckman, Rose Rupple, Pricilla Foos, Martha
Cosby, Pat Wegman, Mary McElwain, Caroline Suppes, Sheryl Johnson and
Claire Scherer.
Absent: Jac
Cuney
Craig LeVere called the meeting to order.
Opening Devotion:
Was given by Sheryl Johnson with the reading of 1Timothy 3:8-13.
Secretary’s Report: Copies of the September
13, 2004 minutes were distributed and read through in advance. Martha made a motion to accept the September Minutes.
Claire seconded the motion. All
board members in favor. The
Secretary’s Report was approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Claire went over the September Treasurer’s report.
She transferred some funds from savings to the checking account.
Mary made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report.
Pricilla seconded the motion and all were in favor.
The Treasurer’s Reports was approved.
Session Report:
There was no September Session Report.
Most of the discussion was on Stewardship.
Committee Reports:
Communications Committee – Martha – 22
Women from the church attended the musical “Menopause the Musical”. October will probably be a movie and November a Holiday
Brunch.
Compassion Committee – Claire –Nothing to
report.
Assistance Committee – Jac – Jac was
absent but there was nothing to report per Craig.
Events Committee – Craig – Plans to
finalize the Deacon Festival. Additional
information regarding the Festival is under old business.
Unfinished (Old) Business: Plans for the Deacon Festival – The raffle sales have been
going well. We have covered
enough to pay for the weekend get-a-way.
Mary and Pricilla will help sell tickets next Sunday and Martha on
October 24th in-between services.
We will sell tickets until we do the drawing.
We will do Fellowship in the Fellowship Hall so people can begin
bidding on the silent auction items.
Claire needed a letter to give to the band for their donation of
time and talents. Beth has
the clown covered for us for the entertainment.
Next we discussed a schedule of how things should
flow.
11:30 – The band starts playing while people get
their food.
11:30
– Start serving the Brunch will consist of Egg Dishes, breads or
muffins, and fruit. Everyone
will do 2 egg dishes.
11:45 – Entertainment with the clown.
12:00 to 12:10 – Close the silent auction.
12:10 – Begin Live auction.
12:20 – Live auction is over.
12:25 – Announce the silent auction winners.
Next we discussed and reviewed the items for the live
auction. There will be about
10 items for the live auction.
Following the auction, Claire and Sheryl will cashier
while the other Deacons help with the collections of the items purchased.
The area will be blocked off to help the process go smooth.
New Business:
A couple of executive session items were discussed in new business.
There was also a concern from the Worship Committee voiced.
Prayer Requests:
A hairdresser’s niece who is 10 years old was having some
medical problems.

Gladys made motion to adjourn and Mary seconded.
