Deacons
Board Meeting
September
13, 2004
Deacons Present:
Craig LeVere, Gladys Eckman, Rose Rupple, Pat Wegman, Mary
McElwain, Caroline Suppes, Sheryl Johnson and Claire Scherer.
Martha Cosby and Pastor Lynn were in the Session Meeting.
Absent: Jac
Cuney and Pricilla Foos.
Craig LeVere called the meeting to order.
Opening Devotion:
Was given by Rose Rupple
Secretary’s Report: Copies of the August 9,
2004 minutes were distributed and read through in advance. Claire made a motion to accept the August Minutes.
Rose seconded the motion. All
board members in favor. The
Secretary’s Report was approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Claire went over the August Treasurer’s report.
She stated that since the report was completed, $600 has gone for
fuel assistance. Food coupons
need to be purchased again as well. There
seems to be high needs right now. There
was a correction to the report – line that states Withdrawals –
transfer from savings should actually say that a check was issued to a
Children’s Center Employee who needed assistance.
Sheryl made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as amended.
Caroline seconded the motion and all were in favor.
The Treasurer’s Reports was approved.
Session Report:
There was no August Session Report as Craig was unable to attend.
Committee Reports:
Communications Committee – Martha –
“Menopause the Musical” which was scheduled for August 28th was changed to September 25th.
Compassion Committee – Claire –Nothing to
report.
Assistance Committee – Jac – Jac was
absent but there was nothing to report per Craig.
Events Committee – Craig – The plans for
the Deacon Festival continued. Additional
information regarding the Festival is under old business.
Unfinished (Old) Business: Plans for the Deacon Festival – Gladys is going to have her
Parish #8 put together a gardening basket and Pat is doing a Christmas
basket with Parish #2. We
will identify the baskets by their parish numbers and the name of the
Deacon. We will set up for
the Festival on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 9:00 AM.
Claire and Sheryl are going to work on a raffle item and try and
come up with a weekend get-a-way. We
will use money from an anonyms donor and proceeds from the raffle.
300 tickets will be printed for the raffle. We will rework the auction sheets and set up the certificates
differently this year. Ugly
Quilts is donating 4 quilts for the auction.
They will be on display and rotated in the narthex until the
auction. The band, clown and
auctioneer have all been set up. The
menu will now be a brunch with the egg dishes, breads and fruit.
We reviewed what we had for donations thus far.
New Business:
Claire received some more cards and brought them for Deacons to
use. We went through parish
lists and added new members and people who have been attending services
regularly to the Parish lists.
Jody also have us a list of people that we need to remove from our
parish lists.
Prayer Requests:
Scholes on their moving endeavor, Edna Green, Pricilla Foos and
Helen Leabo.

Adjournment:
Mary moved to adjourn and Claire seconded.
