Was given by Craig LeVere
Secretary’s Report: Copies were distributed
and read through in advance. Jac
made a motion to accept the July Minutes.
Pricilla seconded the motion.
All board members in favor. The
Secretary’s Report was approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Claire went over the July Treasurer’s report.
We discussed the cap on the assistance that we talked about last
month. We decided that the
cap does not include church members and that we be left on an as need
basis. Claire made a motion
clarifying and amending the motion from July to state that the church
members were not restricted to the limits and could request more that once
in a calendar year. They
would be reviewed on a case-by-case situation.
Jac seconded the motion and all board members were in favor. Jac made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s reports.
Rose seconded the motion and all were in favor.
The Treasurer’s Reports was approved.
Session Report:
There was no July Session Report.
Gladys attended the meeting but was unavailable for this meeting.
Committee Reports:
Communications Committee – Martha – Had 6
young couples over for dessert. Also
had her parish over. Felt
that both turned out well. Had
a sleepover with 6 of the young youth girls.
Next thing being planned is “Menopause the Musical” on August
28th.
Compassion Committee – Claire –She was
able to talk to Diane regarding the Compassion Committee and the Funeral
Committee. Diane feels
comfortable with doing the funeral receptions and asking the deacons for
assistance when she needs it. We
just need to make sure the communication takes place and all know what is
going on. Use of the phone
tree is the best tool for doing this.
Assistance Committee – Jac – There was
nothing to report and no requests for assistance.
Events Committee – Sheryl – The plans for
the Deacon Festival were discussed. Additional
information regarding the Festival is under old business.
Unfinished (Old) Business: Plans for the Deacon Festival – The letters for the local
businesses will be going out later this week.
More ideas of what we could search for were discussed.
Letters or calls need to be sent or made to the parishes. Claire
has a commitment from Cherished Memories.
Still need to work toward some key items and what we want to
raffle. We will begin make
announcements on Sunday mornings during church services.
Need to rewrite script for the First Press.
We also need to create some posters and Claire is working on the
artwork for the design of the raffle tickets.
We have decided on a menu for the lunch on October 24th.
It will be a free will offering.
We discussed other basket titles for parishes.
The plans are going well. Sheryl
will contact the auctioneer and talk to Beth again about activities for
the children.
New Business:
The 120th Anniversary on September 12th and
the fall kick off on September 19th were discussed.
Cards to be distributed were passed out.
There was no other new business.
Prayer Requests:
See the ones in the Pastor report.
Rose’s son-in-law, Ralph, is having cancer surgery and Helen
Leabo fell.
Closing Devotion:
By Craig LeVere taken from “Alive Now”.
Adjournment:
Sheryl moved to adjourn and Pricilla seconded.
Next Meeting:
