the treasurer’s report for the month of January. It was moved and
seconded that the report be accepted as printed. Motion carried.

Sakata, expressing Joanna’s enjoyment of the “Dessert of the Month”
goodies.
Committee
Reports:
Communications:
Martha reported that the “Ladies Slumber
Party” had about a dozen participants, and “a good time was had by all!”
Compassion:
No report
Assistance:
Judy reported that help was offered to
Adeline LeDeux following the death of her husband, but that none was
needed at this time.
Events:
No report.
Unfinished Business:
*It
was clarified that the Almost Home Coalition money is primarily to be used
for people outside of our church membership. The Deacons have additional
funds to be used for our church members.
*All deacons were
reminded …
… not to put out the donuts
during the first service until the last praise songs are being sung.
… that the east doors of the
church will be open for night meetings. Please do not use the front
doors.
*Martha
will talk with Pastor Lynn with regard to our concerns about the need for
a deacon to sit at the office door during the second service.
New Business:
*The
following dates have been tentatively set, pending Session approval:
Deacon’s Plant Sale –
May 15th
Deacon’s Festival
(“Christmas in September”) – September 25th
*Most agreed that since
the “Parish Baskets” were such a big success at the last festival, they
should be done again. It was also suggested that we approach fewer of the
same type of businesses, i.e., fast food establishments, beauty
salons, etc. Gladys Eckman noted that “Ugly Quilts” already has a quilt
in the making for the festival.
*Dot Lindsey will see
that the name labels on our mail trays are up-dated.
*Rose Rupple reported
that Margaret Gamble would like to be of help with phone calling. It was
agreed that any requests for her help from other deacons should be
coordinated through Rose.
*Several informational
items were brought to our attention
… There will be no Lenten Soup
Suppers this year due to poor attendance last year.
… Church cleaning will begin on
Saturday, February 19, at 9 AM.
… The local newspaper is
including church announcements and event information.
Pastor’s Report:
None
Session Report:
Claire attended the January
Session meeting. New members and new elders and deacons were presented to
the Session members. Most of the meeting centered on the financial
situation of the church. The membership roll was up-dated, as well.
Prayer Requests:
*Rose
asked for continued prayers for her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Don
LeBarre. Don has acute kidney failure and complications from high blood
pressure, and Pat is doing her best to be of great support to him.
*Martha
asked for prayers for her son-in-law who is being deployed very soon.
*Pricilla
asked for prayers for her brother, Joe Garcia, who is now on dialysis.
The closing devotion was
given by Caroline.
The meeting was adjourned at
8:30 PM, following communion training.
The next meeting will be
on March 14th at 7 PM.
The March Deacon is
Judy Wallace.
Respectfully submitted,
Dot Lindsey,
Secretary |
